How 12-Month Layaway Works at Express Pawn

Layaway on Everything in the Store

Layaway at Express Pawn isn't limited to one department. It applies to all merchandise in the store: jewelry, firearms, electronics, tools, instruments, whatever catches your eye when you walk in. If it's for sale on our floor, you can put it on layaway instead of paying for it all at once.

Up to 12 Months to Pay

You get up to 12 months to pay off a layaway item. That's a long runway compared to most stores, and it means you're not forced to come up with the full price in one trip or lose out on the item to someone else who happens to walk in first. Small, steady payments over time do the work instead, and there's no pressure to rush it.

Your Item Is Set Aside, Not Sold

Once you start a layaway, that item is pulled and set aside for you. It doesn't sit on the shelf where someone else can buy it out from under you while you're saving up. One of our customers, Jager French, put it this way in a review: 'They put it back and make sure it's not sold from under you.' That's exactly how it works at either store.

You'll get text alerts on your layaway payments, so you always know where you stand and when the next payment is due. No guessing, no surprise phone calls, just a reminder that shows up in time for you to plan around it.

Some customers take the full 12 months to pay off an item. Others move a lot faster. Jager French mentioned paying off a layaway item in about two months, calling it convenient with cheap down payments and adding that it's become a favorite way to buy firearms specifically because of how the program works. However fast or slow fits your budget, the item is waiting either way.

How to Start a Layaway

Starting a layaway here is simple. Pick out the item on the floor, let staff know you'd like to put it on layaway, and make your first payment right there at the counter. The item gets tagged and pulled off the shelf immediately, so it's yours and waiting no matter how long it takes you to finish paying. If you're buying more than one thing at a time, you can put multiple items on the same ticket instead of juggling separate ones, and staff can walk you through exactly what's already been paid down whenever you stop by.

It's worth knowing the difference between the two programs we run. A pawn loan is for when you already own something and need cash now, you hand over an item and get money for it. Layaway is the opposite: you don't own the item yet, you're claiming something in the store and paying it off over time until it's yours. Some customers use both programs at different points, depending on whether they're looking to get cash quickly or looking to buy something new without paying the full price up front in one visit.

Layaway works especially well for a purchase you've been planning rather than an impulse buy: a gift for a birthday or holiday, a firearm you want in hand before hunting season, or a piece of jewelry you've had your eye on for a while. Instead of paying the full price in one visit, you spread it out in payments you can plan around, and you always know exactly what you owe the next time you stop in.

Why Customers Use Layaway Here
